A total of 50 people were arrested in one day this week as part of Great Manchester Police action.

Operation AVRO (June 20) took place across Little Hulton and the region with 15 warrants conducted, leading to £10,000 in cash seized along with weapons and large quantities of drugs.

A cannabis farm was found in Weaste as part of the operation.

The suspects arrested were charged with a series of offences ranging from possession with intent to distribute class A and B drugs, to money laundering, theft, and manipulating the course of justice.

There were also charges relating to assault and recall to prison.

In addition, a traffic operation resulted in eight vehicles being confiscated.

A total of 105 speeding offences were recorded alongside 13 cases of people using their mobile phones while driving.

Seventeen fixed penalty notices were issued for road traffic offences.

A mounted unit patrolled the Little Hulton area as the day unfolded, while officers also visited schools to deliver inputs to students.

Chief Inspector Gareth Humphreys, of our Salford District, said: “Our officers undertake critical work to find criminality and arrest those responsible daily. Operation AVRO gives us an opportunity to showcase this excellent work of our officers and partners through a meticulously planned day of action.

“A lot of time and effort goes into planning these days of action and it is extremely rewarding to see such fantastic results come in."

Operation AVRO is an initiative that mobilises extra resources as well as specialized officers to various districts within Greater Manchester each month..

Insp Humphreys added: “Wine made a significant number of arrests, seized lots of weapons, drugs and money – taking them off the streets of Salford and away from harming members of our community.

“I would like to reinforce our message to any criminals that if you’re undertaking any criminality, our officers will find you and put an end to your criminal activity.”
