A fashion workshop is set to show off upcycling tips at the Market Place in Bolton.
Taking place June 22-23 the Future Furnishings Exhibition is designed to educate the public on sustainable fashion.
Saturday's schedule begins with the 'Make Do and Mend Workshop' at 11.30am and 1pm.
Led by fashion lecturer, Kerry Kempster, and textiles student, Khadijah Mulla, the workshop provides a specific focus on remaking and mending principles.
Later in the day, at 2.30pm, a casual 'Drop-in Skills and Advice Course' offers tips and advice on repair methods and upcycling techniques.
On Sunday, the 'Fashion Upcycling: Summer Scrunchies Workshop' takes place at 11.30am and 1pm.
Spearheaded by fashion lecturer, Helen Riley, and textiles student, Lucia Bradley, it provides creative ways to turn fabric scraps into trendy summer scrunchies.
A 'Drop-In Sewing Skills Session' at 2.30pm offers hands-on assistance with ongoing projects while improving participants' sewing abilities.
The workshops are part of a broader sustainability initiative headed by the University of Bolton and local partners, focusing on the creative reuse of textiles.
Leanne Lewis, project lead and lecturer, said: "We’re excited to offer a range of useful and exciting fashion workshops this weekend, the workshops are open to all, no experience necessary – just bring your enthusiasm and get ready to learn some new skills that you can take away with you and start remaking, rethinking and reusing textiles that are no longer used or wanted."
Participants are encouraged to bring used items like bedding, curtains, and clothing to the event.
Lewis added: "The workshops will be an amazing experience that encourages sharing of skills that can help to create a more sustainable approach to living in a fun, collaborative and interactive environment."
The event will take place from 11am to 4pm.
No bookings are necessary and the public is invited to simply show up to meet the team and partake in the workshops.
