A brewery has launched a £1.75 pint to celebrate 175 years of being in business.

Beer lovers can celebrate the anniversary of Joseph Holt by enjoying their award-winning ales at less than half the price.

From Sunday, June 23 - the day in 1849 when founder Joseph Holt first opened for business – customers will be able to buy two of the breweries’ most popular beers for less than £2.

The price has been chosen to reflect the special birthday for Joseph Holt, an independent business which has been in the same family for six generations.

Included in the offer is the company’s trademark bitter which has been on sale ever since Joseph Holt began trading.

It is still brewed using the same strain of yeast as it did in 1849, re-growing it to remain environmentally responsible as well as consistency in taste.

Another ale, Crystal lager, will also be available for £1.75.

The offer runs until July 7.

The cut price ale will be available at a one specific Joseph Holt pub each day throughout this limited period – with the brewery identifying the location of the promotion every morning on social media on Facebook and Instagram.

Joseph Holt owns 127 pubs across the North West which means there is an opportunity for beer lovers across the region, including those in Bolton, to take part.

Paul Longmire, head of marketing for Joseph Holt, said: “All our beer is already competitively priced, but on this special anniversary we really want as many people as possible to enjoy our award-winning ale.

“And what better way to celebrate our milestone anniversary than with a beer with a dramatically cut-price tag to match our 175 years in business.”

Joseph Holt was first opened by weaver’s son Joseph Holt in Manchester just as the city was booming thanks to the industrial revolution.

Together with his ever-supportive wife, Catherine, they moved their fledging brewery to Empire Street in Cheetham Hill and has remained there ever since.

As well as owning 127 pubs in Greater Manchester and the Northwest, Joseph Holt beers are supplied to over 500 nationally.

Paul added: “We are so proud of our heritage and the way our pubs play such a central role in the communities where they’re located.

“And this special promotion is the perfect way to raise a glass to our past and to toast the success of Joseph Holt for many generations to come.”
