A jury has failed to reach a verdict on the trial of an aristocrat and her partner over the death of their newborn baby.
Constance Marten, 37 and Mark Gordon, 50, had fled with their baby after their car burst into flames near Bolton on January 5 2023.
Marten and Gordon, each of no fixed address, then continued to live off grid for the several weeks.
There had been a high-profile police search for the missing baby which culminated in the couple’s arrests in Brighton last February, with the child was found days afterwards.
She was found dead on an allotment in Brighton, East Sussex last March.
Marten and Gordon were each charged with manslaughter by gross negligence, causing or allowing the death of a child, concealing the birth of a child, child cruelty and perverting the course of justice.
Marten and Gordon each denied all counts and began their trial at the Old Bailey in London on January 25 this year.
Jurors began deliberating on April 30.

Judge Mark Lucraft KC had previously given the 10-member jury a majority direction, saying he would accept verdicts on which nine of them were agreed.
The jury has now been discharged after failing to reach a verdict after more than 72 hours of deliberation.
Marten and Gordon may face a retrial.
