Detectives believe a man dragged her to the floor and took her handbag, which contained personal items and money.
The incident left Sylvia with physical injuries, and she is now frightened to leave her house – with her own granddaughter saying it will ‘scar her’.
Greater Manchester Police says a 33-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of robbery and remains in police custody for questioning.
