This photo was taken looking along St George’s Road, Bolton, in 1984.
It’s an interesting enough view but what makes it particularly fascinating is the petrol station on the left.
Look at the prices being advertised. For four star - this was before the days of unleaded petrol - it was 39.5p a litre, more than a pound a litre less than today. Back then it was the price per gallon which everyone took notice of - 179.6 for four star.
On the right of the photo, we've got a little teaser for Looking Back readers. Can you identify the distinctive building with the domed tower?
