A taxi driver who got to know hundreds of people across Bolton during his 35 years of service has died.
Richard James Brazier, 81, who only retired two years ago, died on May 18.
His daughter, Janie Whitehead, said: “He was a lovely dad and a very popular taxi driver. When I put a notification on Facebook more than 60 people remembered him fondly.”
Halliwell-born Mr Brazier lived in Grantchester Way, Breightmet.
Following a stroke last October, he spent time in hospitals and Bright Meadows Care Home, where he was cared for until his death.
Janie said: “When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed getting dressed in his swanky clothes and going to the Balmoral, Griffin and Mosley Arms pubs, where he had lots of friends.”
He is survived by Janie, his partner Mary and his four grandchildren, Gracie (13), Kai (10), Enzio (10), and Esmae (6).
He also had a son, Matthew, who predeceased him.
The funeral will be held at Overdale Crematorium’s West Chapel at 4pm on Wednesday, June 19th, followed by a gathering at The Balmoral.
“It seemed only fitting to hold it there, because it’s where he had so many happy times,” said Janie.
“We’re not asking for donations, we just want people to come along and celebrate his life.”
