It’s a bit battered but then this photo is nearly 90 years old. It shows Bolton’s Great Moor Street Station in 1936.

At the time it was central to the town’s rail connections taking passengers all round the country.

The station closed in 1954, although some ‘holiday specials’ ran from there for a further four years.

It was demolished in 1966 and the site would later be developed first for The Water Place and later for Morrison’s car park.
