Barclays Bank in Bolton town centre will reopen today at noon after it was forced to closed on Monday.

The branch on Market Street, off Victoria Square, was heavily damaged and daubed with red paint as part of a wave of Pro-Palestine protests against the bank.

The incident took place in the early hours of Monday morning, June 3.

Its windows were smashed and red paint was hurled on the walls - and inside the branch  which was smeared across TVs and marketing material.

Palestine Action claimed responsibility for the attack on the branch.

The branch has remained closed since Monday and will now re-open today, Friday June 7 at 12pm.

In a statement to The Bolton News, Barclays confirmed the branch will re-open.

A spokesperson for Barclays said: “The Bolton branch will re-open at noon today on completion of all the repairs to the branch.”

Earlier this week the bank apologised for its closure.
