The newest candidate put forward for Bolton’s closest fought election seat says she is “not a typical Conservative.”
Earlier this week Cllr Adele Warren was chosen as the party’s candidate for Bolton North East after previous Tory MP Mark Logan’s surprise decision to back Labour at the upcoming election.
Cllr Warren already represents the Breightmet area on Bolton Council and says she is looking forward to campaigning on a bigger scale.
She said: “I’m not typical of what everyone thinks is a Conservative, I was brought up in a council house and I worked to put myself through university at Bolton Institute.
“I grew up in Farnworth and I’ve lived in Bolton North East for 18 years.
“The reason I got involved in politics is because I wanted to bring my children up in a nice environment and make my town a nicer place to live.
“So I really want to take people with me on that and to be a strong voice for Bolton North East.”
She added: “It’s something that I feel passionately about, anyone can do these things if they put their minds to it and I think I’m testament to that.”
Cllr Warren, who was cabinet member for regeneration under Bolton Council’s previous Conservative administration, says pensions and defence have been huge issues.
She said: “I’ve build a strong reputation in Breightmet and so I’m looking forward to carrying that through to the rest of Bolton North East.”
She added: “It very much depends on what people’s priorities are and how I can carry the Conservative message through but also how I can take that back to the party and be a strong voice for the constituency.”
She also says she will focus on environmental concerns.
Cllr Warren said: “But with the green agenda, its important that its done in the right way and to make sure that people aren’t out of pocket, especially with the cost of living crisis.”

Bolton North East looks set to be a hard fought campaign, with previous Tory MP Mark Logan having defeated Labour’s Sir David Crausby by just 378 votes in the 2019 election.
Mr Logan’s decision not to stand again and to back Labour took both colleagues and opponents by surprise last week.
Mr Logan said “wouldn’t rule out” standing for the Labour Party in the future.
Bolton North East will also be contested by Labour’s Kirith Entwistle, Liberal Democrat Rebecca Forrest, Cllr Hanif Alli of the Green Party and Reform UK’s Trevor Jones.
The general election will be held on July 4.
