THE phenomenal success of Peaky Blinders is set to continue with the news that Netflix is to make a film of the Midlands historical drama.
And once again Bolton could be making an appearance alongside Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy.
Scenes from the BBC series, which ran for six series from 2013 to 2022 were shot in the town, most notably the Le Mans Crescent arches.
Now local fans are hoping the film-makers will make a return visit.
Murphy is to reprise his role as gangster Tommy Shelby for the upcoming film from creator Steven Knight.
In a statement, Murphy, who has collaborated with Radcliffe’s Oscar-winning Danny Boyle, said: “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me.
“It is very gratifying to be recollaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders.
The original series followed the Shelby family, a gang rising to prominence in post-First World War Birmingham.
The cast are set to begin filming in Birmingham in September, and the film will follow the family into the Second World War.
It remains to be seen if they will also be coming to Bolton, which is fast becoming a magnet of a location for Netflix dramas.
In the meantime, a dip into photo archives reveals all the occasions the Peaky Blinders cast and crew were in Bolton.
There was huge excitement in the town in March 2022 when scenes were filmed for the final series.
Fans gathered over six days to get a glimpse of the stars – especially Cillian Murphy.
And not even the black sheeting prevented fans from seeing their idol — even if it meant standing on bins.
But filming of the series in Bolton goes all the way back to 2014, with Le Mans Crescent transformed into the era, with stunning vintage cars parked along the famed street.
The filming of the hit drama series certainly brought the people into Bolton and the national press!
One fan waiting outside the library had even brought along an impressive painting of Tommy Shelby.
