On Instagram, Bolton Council posted a picture of a previous event and captioned it: "Specially trained officers from Greater Manchester Police's Operation Servator will be deploying to enhance security for Ironman 70.3 Bolton.

"Don’t be alarmed if you see them before and during the event (Friday, June 28 to Sunday, June 30)."

The event composes of the Night Run on Friday, June 28, and IRONKIDS on Saturday, June 29.

The main event Ironman 70.3 will take place on Sunday, June 30.

Project Servator aims to disrupt a range of criminal activity while providing a reassuring presence for the public. Officers are experienced and specially trained to spot the tell-tale signs that someone is planning or preparing to commit an act of crime.

Bolton Council’s Chief Executive, Sue Johnson, said previously: “IRONMAN is one of Bolton’s most popular and best supported weekends of the year.

“It just keeps getting bigger and bigger, with this year set to be the largest ever.

“To accommodate demand, the council and IRONMAN have worked together to increase the number of places, but with the events on the horizon it’s looking likely that they will sell out.

“I encourage everyone to sign up soon so that they have the chance to be part of this fantastic weekend.”
