The sun shining down on Victoria Square in Bolton in June 1962 appears to have brought out the crowds.
This is an unusual angle of the square looking towards the Commercial Hotel on the corner with Oxford Street.
At this time cars could still park outside the shops on the square on one side of the war memorial.
