Each week we pick a pub to highlight what makes hospitality in our area so special.
This week we have chosen to focus on the Old White Horse in Ainsworth on the Bury and Bolton Border.
The traditional pub has been around for at least 150 years.
Landlord name:
Charles Daubney
How long have you been a landlord for?
I have had this pub for five years, I have had the Monkey House in Bury for 11 years, Hopps in Bury for seven years, The Major in Ramsbottom for three years and I have just opened the Irish bar Murphy’s in Bury.
Can you tell s a bit about the history of the pub?
It has been here for at least 150 years.
Do you serve food?
We serve Carrs Pastries fresh every day but we try more to pride ourselves more on good beer and we show sports.
I would say we are a proper boozer.
Do you have a beer garden?
We have a beer garden, some of which is covered so you can sit outside in the rain.

What is the best thing about being a landlord?
Meeting people and meeting different characters.
What is the most challenging thing?
Every day you have to be on your wits.
Recently we had an increase in price but due to the work I had done on utility costs we did not have to pass that onto our customers.
I try to make sure I am getting the best for our customers and keep the beer the best we can.
What is your most popular beer?
The most popular is a Cruzcampo followed by a John Smiths.
Is there anything else about the pub you'd like to highlight?
We have a Bolton FA Cup final top on the wall for the Wanderers fans.
