Famous rapper Dizzee Rascal has enlisted the help of Bolton's very own Blackout Crew for his new track.

The Bolton based crew previously worked with DJ Jax Jones last year, and now, the boys have featured on a remix of Dizzee Rascal’s song, Switch and Explode.

The Bolton band found fame in the early 2000s, topping the charts in 2009 with three singles, ‘Bbbounce’, ‘Put a Donk on it’, and ‘Dialled.’

After their initial success, the crew went their separate ways to work on solo projects and have families.

Kurtis Chadwick aka MC Viper, Jordan Cover, aka MC Cover, and Luke Purall aka MC Lukey were approached by the rapper on Instagram after he had heard about their collaboration with DJ Jax Jones.

Kurtis said: “I run the Instagram page and I was watching TV in bed and then a message came through where Dizzee Rascal said hello and I thought he was hacked.

“But he said he’d been looking at what we’d been doing and was interested in doing something with Switch and Explode and wanted us to put a 'donk' on his track.

“He said he remembered when it first came out in 2008 and it dropped on Channel U.

“He listened to the music back in the day he did not understand it, but listened to it now and thought it was a work of art, which is really weird to hear from someone like him.”

The boys are big fans of Dizzee Rascal themselves, and cannot wait for people in their hometown, Bolton, to hear the new track.

Kurtis said: “It is crazy because when I was at school I used to listen to him and so he is a bit of an idol to us and for him to approach us, is mind-blowing and I said to him last week it was quite surreal to do some work with him.

“He loves it the way we have done it and that is a big deal for us.”

Last week, The Blackout Crew and Dizzee Rascal filmed content for social media together.

Kurtis said: “He is down to earth, and it was refreshing to spend time with him.

“The thing about what we are doing now is we are being taken a lot more seriously and were a joke act last time. “

The Blackout Crew’s remix with the famous rapper is out on all major streaming platforms now.

A new single called Dance The Night Away will also be released by the crew next month.
