A man is fighting for his life while another has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a suspected stabbing.
Police say that the man was stabbed on Slade Lane, Longsight at around .615pm on the evening of Friday May 17.
The alleged victim was taken to hospital were police say he is in a stable but critical condition, while a 50 in his 50s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
Detective Inspector Helen Bagnall said: “This incident is undoubtedly a concerning one for the community that live and work in that area.
“I want to reassure everyone, that we are following every line of enquiry that we have, and we are continuing to question a man who was arrested at the scene shortly after the incident took place.
“Officers have been deployed to the area to provide reassurance to the community, we ask and encourage the public to speak to our officers and support us in investigating this incident by sharing any information they may have and to raise any questions or concerns with us.
"Public trust and confidence is two of our highest priorities and any assistance from the community is greatly appreciated.

“Violence has no place on our streets, and I would urge anyone with information that will help enquiries to make a report to us.”
The man in his 50s is still in police custody.
Police have appeared for anyone with any information or who has CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage to get in touch.
