Bolton motorists will have five road closures to avoid nearby on the National Highways network this week.

And three of them are expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing holdups of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures already in place are expected to carry on this week.

Each evening from midnight to 11.59pm up to July 31, there will be slight delays of up to ten minutes on the M61 southbound between junction five and six.

This is due to a hard shoulder closure for drainage works.

A further three closures will begin over the next two weeks.

From 9pm May 21 to 5am May 22, there will be moderate delays of between 10 and 30 minutes on the M61 southbound between junction five and six, this is due to a carriageway closure for horticulture works.

From 9pm May 22 to 5am May 23, there will be slight delays on the M61 northbound and southbound at junction 6, this is due to a lane closure for horticulture works including cutting and planting.

Finally, from 9pm May 23 to 5am May 24, there will be moderate delays on the M61 southbound between junction five and six.

This is due to a carriageway closure for horticulture works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
