A teenager from Bolton has made it through to the final of a national pageant.
Summer Birchall, aged 13, of Bromley Cross, will compete in the Grand Final of Miss Junior Teen Great Britain this October.
The contest is described as a “platform to celebrate teenagers, their achievements and their goals” and not as a beauty contest.
The Grand Final includes a beauty queen challenge day and a pyjama diva party.
Summer said: “I am so excited, it is such a big achievement. I filled out this massive form, in it were really detailed questions."
Summer’s mum, Joanna Birchall, said: “They asked her a lot about achievements and goals.
“She got through to the semi-finals and then they offered her a place into the Grand Final.”
Summer said: “I started crying because I was so proud and excited.

Joanna added: “To be in something like this is such a massive achievement.
“It will be in October, at a big theatre in Blackpool.”
Summer added: “There will be a sleepover party on the first night, all the girls will get to know each other. Then there will be challenges and there will be a big pyjama party.”
Joanna said: “We are going to be doing fundraising for the charity Together for Short Lives, such as a sponsored walk up Scafell Pike.
“We are very happy, our hairdresser for 10 years sponsored us.
“It is not just a beauty contest, it is all about personality, backing each other, girls supporting girls.
“Ones who have gone before have said they made friends for life, really good experience, all the fun things they got to do together.
“It is quite tough being a young girl at school these days. Molly Mae, who is a past winner, said it was one of the best things she ever did, the fact Summer has got the chance to do this is amazing.”
Summer is being sponsored by Coco Hair Design in Bradshaw.
Miranda Heyes of Coco Hair Design said: “I have known Summer since she visited my salon 10 years ago along with her mum. She has always inspired me how passionate she is for beauty and fashion.
“She is so talented with her flair for hair, makeup and beauty and is always wanting to know about the latest trend. She is perfect for this competition.”
