Weather forecaster the Met Office has issued a warning for thunderstorms with the bad weather set to hit the borough tomorrow, Sunday.
A yellow weather warning has been sent out as heavy showers and thunderstorms are set to cause disruption.
The warning is in force from 12pm until 10pm. It covers most parts of the UK, including the whole of Bolton.
According to the Met Office, people can expect the weather conditions to cause some disruption in places especially to travel and isolated property flooding is possible.
Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, and where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: “Heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely to break out in the south of this area late Sunday morning and early Sunday afternoon, moving steadily north whilst growing into larger areas of rain before clearing the area.
“Some intense downpours are possible in a few places, giving up to 30 mm in less than hour and perhaps 40-50 mm over 2 to 3 hours leading to surface water flooding.
“Hail, frequent lightning strikes and strong wind gusts will be additional localised hazards.”
However, before the thunderstorms strike, Bolton is set for some glorious sunshine today, Saturday.
