Firefighters have been dealing with a devastating blaze at a leisure centre in Salford.
The call came from the Clarendon on Liverpool Street just before 3am.
Eight units from across the region were sent to bring it under control and prevent further spread.
Crews remain on the scene this morning.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Four fire engines remain at the scene of a fire at a leisure centre on Liverpool Street, Salford this morning.
“Crews were first called to the blaze just before 2:45am in the early hours of the morning.
"At the height of the incident eight fire engines from across the city-region were mobilised to the scene, together with specialist appliances, and firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets to bring the fire under control and prevent further spread.
“Road closures remain in place around the incident this morning while firefighters work with emergency service partners and the local authority to keep the scene safe. We expect to remain at the scene throughout the rest of the day.
“We ask that local residents and members of the public continue to avoid the area while crews carry out their work.”
