Armed police officers were spotted in the Hall I' Th' Wood area yesterday following reports of a man 'making threats with a crossbow'.
There was a large police presence around Green Way at approximately 7am on Friday (May 3) following a disturbance involving a man who had allegedly been 'making threats'.
There are unconfirmed reports from residents that a man had threatened another person using a crossbow.
Photographs from the scene show several police officers searching through the adjacent playground and grassy areas off Green Way and Crompton Way.
The images also place armed police at the incident.
Officers could be seen patrolling the area and surrounding streets from behind the playground.
Residents claim the man was then "spotted walking from the top of Green Way" where he was captured by police.
While residents say the incident occurred in the morning, police say their log of the incident suggests it occurred around 6pm and gave the following statement: “At approximately 6pm on Friday (May 3), officers were called to an incident on Green Way in Bolton.
"A 30 year old male was arrested on suspicion of making threats with an offensive weapon and remains in custody for questioning.”
