A train was forced to come to a unscheduled stop in Bolton after a passenger had a cigarette in the toilet.
The service, which was on its way to Blackpool North, was due into Bolton at 8.21am.
The Northern train stopped suddenly just outside Bolton station, leaving passengers "perplexed" until an announcement explained the delay.
One passenger on the service said: "I was commuting into Bolton, ready to get off and go to work, when all of a sudden the train stopped outside the station for a few minutes.

"I was perplexed, as it seemed quite random. Then a staff member announced that they were sorry for the delay - a fire alarm had been set off because a passenger had been smoking a cigarette in a toilet!
"He said that they were sorry for the delay, but that it was down to the actions of one 'selfish individual'.
"The train then rolled the rest of the way into the station."
Northern have been approached for comment on this incident.
