Two separate “wanted men” were arrested over the weekend after police had been out on patrol.
Officers say they had been in Leigh town centre on Saturday April 27 on their way back from arresting a man wanted on recall to prison in Abram.
On their way back to their station in Leigh, officers then came across the second wanted man in the town centre, who they connected to a range of offences.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “On April 27 2024 your Abram neighbourhood officers have arrested a male who was wanted on a recall back to prison.
“On the way back to Leigh Police station they have stopped and searched a male in Leigh town centre.
“This male was also wanted for racially aggravated public order offence, two shoplifting offences and also arrested for possession of Class C drugs.”
This comes amid ongoing concerns about crime and anti-social behaviour in town centres all across the Greater Manchester city region.
