Pictures posted by ward councillor Hilary Fairclough showed water spreading across all four lanes of Crompton Way, as well as onto Stambourne Drive and Almond Street.
As of 2.40pm today, the utility company has said that the issue is 'complete'.
A statement says: "Good news, we’ve now fixed the problem on the water main. We will fill in the hole, remove the barriers and get the road back to normal as quickly as we can over the next few days."
