A major road in Bolton is set to be closed as vital resurfacing works take place.
Raikes Lane in Burnden will be closed from tomorrow, Monday, April 29 for approximately five days up to Friday, May 3.
The road closure will prohibit all traffic from proceeding on Raikes Lane, from Vincent Way to Burnden Way to allow resurfacing works to take place.
Raikes Lane links St Peters Way with Manchester Road and vice versa with diversion routes signposted so motorists can travel around the area with ease.
The A666 slip road at the Raikes Lane exit going towards the town centre will be reduced to one lane where motorists can either go straight on to Aldi and Mini car dealership or left towards Manchester Road but there will be no access to Raikes Lane whilst the works are ongoing.
Access will still be open to the Raikes Lane recycling facility, motorists will be able to access it from the other side of the A666 but will not be able to go from the Manchester Road side.

Warning as road to be closed and overnight restrictions to be in place at junction
Cllr Karen Hon, ward councillor for Great Lever said: “We [councillors] have put things out on our social media as we want as many people to be aware as it is a major link road.
“It is just one of them unfortunate circumstances where it causes great inconvenience but the work needs doing and if the work didn’t get done then obviously we would have other complaints regarding the quality of the road.
“And because it is such a major road we do need for it to be well maintained.
“There are other main routes to get to the A666, people can go to the A666 further down Manchester Road or access at Tonge Moor and it is just making yourself aware of looking to see where to go.
“It will increase traffic times for them few days, so people need to plan ahead and give themselves a bit of extra time as well unfortunately.”
