A car smashed into a parked car in the early hours of today.
A Vauxhall Corsa crashed into a Vauxhall Astra parked on Beverley Road in Heaton at around 1am.
Both cars were extensively damage, with a parked Mercedes also being damaged in the crash.
The road was blocked by the Corsa for at least an hour as police arrived and a recovery truck was called.
The owner of the Astra woke up after hearing a loud bang.
She said: “I was asleep when I heard a massive bang, and I looked outside to see a car had crashed into mine, which was parked outside my house.
“I could see two people running away but it was very brief.
“I went outside and saw my car and immediately my heart dropped when I saw the damage the other car had done.
“The driver was nowhere in sight, and I called the police, who actually came pretty soon afterwards and then a tow truck was sent to collect the other car.”
Residents came outside after hearing the house and saw the Corsa had been abandoned with no driver in sight.
Greater Manchester Police were called to the incident and knocked on the doors of residents to find more details of the crash.
The owner of the Astra said: “I had to do a double take when I saw it was my car that was hit.
“There’s so much damage and there was debris all over the floor.
“Everybody was just out watching to see if the driver of the Corsa would come back but that didn’t happen.
“It’s just a great inconvenience to me and not what I needed right now, but it’s happened now.”
An eyewitness said they spotted two people running off after the crash.

Another resident said: “I went outside when I heard this crash because it sounded bad.
“People need to be more careful but running away isn’t the best thing to do when you’ve crashed into somebody else’s car.
“I can’t say what happened, but the road was blocked by the car for some hours and quite a few cars and vans had to turn around until the police called a tow truck and the car was taken away.”
