This photo from March 1988 is likely to get many Looking Back readers in a nostalgic mood.
It shows Bolton’s Market Hall after it had undergone a major facelift with the stalls all being upgraded and the interior getting a fresh new coat of paint.
The new-look market hall would be opened by the Queen.
The wrought iron framework for one of the town’s landmark buildings is so impressive - when it opened in 1855 it was said to be the largest covered market in the country.
It is now home to the Market Place Shopping Centre.
