The 'world's best' food and drink festival is back this summer with long-time favourite celebrity chef unveiled as its first headliner for this year.
The festival will return in August with former Saturday Kitchen star James Martin once again amongst the headliners for the 14th year running.
Last year’s multi-award winning festival brought more than half a million visitors to the town centre.
Bolton Council chief executive Sue Johnson said: “I’m thrilled to welcome James Martin back to the Bolton Food and Drink Festival this year to complement the programme of exciting activities.
“After 19 years, the festival is firmly embedded into our culture and supports the visitor economy in Bolton, alongside local businesses.
“We host fantastic events in Bolton and I’m looking forward to seeing the town bustling, giving accessible opportunities to everybody.”
Best known for presenting the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen between 2006 and 2016, James has also more recently appeared in a range of ITV programmes.
These have included James' French Adventure, Saturday Morning with James Martin and James Martin's American Adventure.
He has been a frequent face at previous Bolton Food Festival events and will be hosting a cookery demo on its closing day this August.
Tickets for his Bank Holiday headline show are already on sale.
More star acts are set to be announced for this year’s festival in due course but the programme will extend far beyond the headliners.
The events will feature free regional chef demos, children’s activities, live music and bars.
There also be artisan stalls, street entertainment and special events suitable for families and children of all ages.

The food and drink festival will open on Friday, August 23 and will run through the following weekend before concluding on the Bank Holiday Monday.
Tickets for James Martin’s cookery demo can be booked online at The Bolton Food and Drink Festival's website or over the phone by calling 01204 520661.
Bolton Council says that premium and standard seating is available so early bookings are advised to ensure the best seats are available.
Further information on this year’s festival’s programme of events will be published later in the year.
