A Westhoughton restaurant is "over the moon" with the approval of its application for an alcohol licence.

Loft 24, a restaurant specialising in tapas-style small plates, launched on Market Street on February 28.

It leant on a temporary licence to serve a range of contemporary cocktails and other drinks alongside the small plates for its first weeks in business but this week its case was up for consideration at the town hall.

Manager Matthew Oliver appealed to a committee of councillors David Chadwick, David Grant and Debbie Newall for the approval of its application for an alcohol licence which was opposed by two residents.

These two residents said there were concerns about the noise from this business and other businesses in the area but Mr Oliver said he would work with the community and the council to address these concerns.

After consideration the committee of Cllr Chadwick, Cllr Grant and Cllr Newall approved the application for an alcohol licence with conditions.

Mr Oliver told The Bolton News: "The feedback is great. We are getting some really, really good customers coming in who are so complimentary.

"We have a review system through our own system and during the trial there were mixed responses but this month everything is a five out of five.
