A film which outperformed two of the biggest Hollywood smashes of 2023 at the box office last year is coming to Bolton.
There's Still Tomorrow, or C'è ancora domani in its native Italian, will show at Vue cinemas in the UK and Ireland, including their branch at Middlebrook, from April 26.
The film was the most watched release of 2023 in its home country, performing better than both Barbie and Oppenheimer at the box office.
It also sold out a record number of screenings at its recent UK preview at Cinema Made in Italy festival in London.
Set in Rome in 1946 on the eve of women gaining the right to vote, the film plays out against a backdrop of poverty, domestic violence and toxic masculinity, centring around one woman’s determination to break the cycle of abuse.
The film counters its tough themes with unexpected comic moments and an optimistic outlook around female empowerment. It features a modern soundtrack including music by the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.
