A suspected burglar is believed to have escaped with stolen tools after targeting a house in Bolton.
Police said this evening, Wednesday April 3, that they were called to a report of a burglary at a house on Mackenzie Street, Astley Bridge.
But on arriving an officer found that the suspect, or possibly several suspects had left with various stolen tools.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “PC Patel has attended a report of a burglary to a property on Mackenzie Street, Astley Bridge.
“Various tools have been stolen and the offender made off.
“Can we ask residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to us.”
In response to the suspected burglary and to other concerns about crime, police have advised people against leaving their homes in darkness, even as lighter evenings return with spring.
The GMP spokesperson said: “Homes left in darkness can signify no one is in.
“A few simple steps can deter thieves.
