A Deane nursery which opened in 2021 has been given a good rating following its first Ofsted report.
Paradise Garden Nursery, located on Linnyshaw Close, received the rating in a report published on Wednesday, March 27.
The nursery, which looks after 25 children aged from two to four, was praised for its ‘well thought out’ environment, where children are ‘warmly welcomed by staff’ and supported to use their imagination.

Ofsted inspector Elisia Lee said children rushed to the role-play area each morning, dressing up as police officers and acting out being at the doctor’s surgery with staff, as well as mixing paints, using trowels, and creating crafts.
Staff were praised for being ‘positive role models’ and using imaginative ways to engage with children, such as saying ‘Hocus pocus, are you ready to focus?’ when beginning story time.
The nursery’s manager was said to be a ‘strong leader’, and was praised for undertaking research and considering how knowledge could be used to support children, with the staff team said to attend regular training together.

The nursery, which opens from 9am to 12pm on weekdays during term time, was also praised for supporting children with special educational needs or disabilities, who were said to be supported well.
Some areas for improvement were noted in the report.
The report noted that staff were not promoting maths consistently as the children played, meaning children ‘do not extend their mathematical knowledge to the highest level’.
Children were also said to be distracted with learning disrupted with children doing different things as staff prepared snacks after being outside. The nursery was asked to review the organisation of daily routines in order to minimize future disruption.
