A man caught carrying a kitchen knife at a railway station in the city centre was sentenced to six and a half months in prison.
Jonathon Carroll, from Salford, was stopped by a British Transport Police (BTP) patrol at Manchester Piccadilly last month.
According to BTP the 46-year-old, of Isaac Close, was caught carrying a kitchen knife and was charged with the possession of a bladed article in a public place as a result.
On March 16, after admitting the charge at Manchester Magistrates' Court, he was sentenced to six and a half months in prison.
Sergeant Andy Platt, of BTP, said: "Hopefully he will realise there is a price to pay for bringing a blade onto the rail network."
