A number of people have been caught  breaking the speed limit on a major road into Bolton.

St Peter’s Way on the A666 takes motorists coming from the M60 ring road through to the centre of Bolton.

Part of it has 50mph speed limit.

The road is monitored by average speed cameras, which can capture a driver’s speed by showing the time it took to get between two fixed points.

This month a number of people have been in court for breaching this limit.

Michael Littler drove an Audi between Bradford Street and Raikes Lane heading southbound at 58mph in June last year.

The case against the 46-year-old was proved in his absence at Tameside Magistrates Court.

Littler, from Duke of Sussex Street, Blackburn, was fined £220.
