Bolton theatre the Octagon united with a charitable website to help raise funds for a great cause.

The town centre venue teamed up with The Big Give to generate money for its Bridges Company programme.

Bridges provides a "safe, inclusive space for people with additional needs to use creativity and theatre to build confidence and social skills".

Gaynor Caldwell, a parent of a participant supported by Bridges, said: "It’s a great opportunity for young adults to come together and work on something really valuable to their lives."

Every public donation which was given to the theatre up to Tuesday, March 26 was doubled by The Big Give, with all the proceeds going to the Bridges group.

Head of creative engagement at the Octagon, Imogen Woolrich, added: "We are extremely thankful to The Big Give for supporting us through their Arts for Impact campaign."
