Market Place Shopping Centre remain tight lipped over new business

Shoppers are desperate to find out what that "something is coming" in the unit which housed Market Place Emporium – and  left wondering what is next for the large space on the ground floor located next to Pandora.

Bosses at Market Place Shopping Centre are remaining tight lipped and said ‘new openings will be announced in due course’.

The Market Place Emporium has recently moved to a different unit on the ground floor of Market Place next to The Perfume Shop and River Island.

A spokesperson for Market Place said: “Market Place Centre is ever expanding its retail offering with new tenants in the pipeline to add to the eclectic current line-up.

“Further information on new openings will be announced in due course.”

The new location of the Market Place Emporium (Image: NQ)This comes as Primark is set to open in the Market Place in the former Debenhams unit in late 2024/early 2025 dependant on construction works.

Earlier last year the clothing retail giant announced it was planning to move its store from Crompton Place to The Market Place Shopping Centre.

Plans have also been put in for Primark’s signage.

The Body Shop closed its doors due to the company going into administration.

The loss of Bolton’s Body Shop branches follows the departure of several other well-known names from the Bolton high street including Marks and Spencer, Wilko and Clinton Cards.

Flannels in Market Place also recently closed its doors.

Posters up in the window (Image: NQ)But despite the closures, there is much excitement for the new opening with people already wondering what it could be.

A customer shopping at the Market Place said: “It is great that a new store is moving in especially given the Body Shop has closed and Flannels has left.

“The Market Place is a great centre with the cinema and leisure offering, and I hope this provides a huge boost – but I don’t understand why the huge secrecy.”

Another said: "I am really curious what it could be, it's a large unit so I'm excited to see what will be opening."
