An  award-winning Bolton actress and writer is set to take on a number of strange challenges from this evening (March 28) as she stars in the new series of Taskmaster.

Alma’s Not Normal star, Sophie Willan, will be in the new series of the show, which is set to be aired on Channel 4 at 9pm.

She will be joined by presenter Joanne McNally (My Therapist Ghosted Me), award-winning comedian and BBC Radio 5 Live radio presenter John Robins, actor, and comedian Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso), and award-winning actor and writer Steve Pemberton (Inside No. 9).

After completing the challenges, Greg the ‘Taskmaster’ will judge the work, and award points based on the contestants’ performances.

Sophie is a BAFTA winning actress, narrator, writer, and comedian, has appeared on several shows throughout her career in TV and theatre, including Class Dismissed, and Alma’s Not Normal, which has been filmed in Bolton.

And ahead of it being aired, a new video has been shared on YouTube by Taskmaster of Sophie having her full interview.

In the video Sophie is interviewed by Alex Thorne, who at the same time are taking part in a challenge to get coloured balls into the correct buckets whilst also answering questions and Sophie is also attached to Alex with string.

Sophie is asked what she was like as a child in five words, she said: “Naughty, distracted, fun, class clown.”

Over the past year, the BAFTA and National Comedy Award winning series triumphed as one of Channel 4’s most popular programmes, coming in as the channel’s third most streamed title of the year with 2.3 billion viewing minutes recorded across all series watched in 2023.

The launch episode of series 15 alone has had 85.4million streaming minutes viewed so far.

Taskmaster series 17 will be aired at 9pm on Channel 4.
