A family's bid to build an extension at their home to allow for intergenerational living was blocked by Bolton Council.
The applicant, Mr Kapasi, applied for planning permission for his home on Sledmere Close on October 20 last year.
The family's bid to build an extension consisting of a two-storey extension with a dormer, as well as smaller single-storey extensions, was to allow for intergenerational living between the applicant, his wife, their children and their families into the future.
Mr Kapasi appealed to the Planning Committee for approval of the application when it met at the town hall last week.

He said: "I want to accommodate me, my wife, and my children who are getting married. My children want to live with me after marriage so to accommodate them I need to make changes to my house so we can all live together with our own privacy.
"I don't want to move out of the house because I've grown up in it and I've got lasting relationships with the neighbours."
Mr Kapasi argued the extension would not be out of place in the area due to existing extensions elsewhere in the area.
He said: "I spoke to all of my neighbours and they support it.
"They don't understand why this would be refused because of the extensions to the back and to the front in the area."
A report for consideration by the Planning Committee recommended refusal of the application on the basis of the impact on the appearance and character of the area and the impact on neighbours. The planning committee refused the application unanimously.

Cllr Andy Morgan said: "Planning is not about protecting the amenity of current users it is about protecting the amenity of current users and future users as well.
"The neighbours agreeing with it doesn't add a lot of weight."
Cllr Rob Morrisey said: "I am sympathetic to the desire for intergenerational living which is growing across all communities.
"I urge the applicant to look at what other options might be available to achieve what you desire but there are too many issues for me to think this is acceptable."
