Road closures are in place this morning along the East Lancs Road after an accident.
Emergency services are currently on the scene of a crash.
Greater Manchester Police warned about closures this morning, warning drivers of the incident.
A spokesman for GMP said: "There are road closures in place on the East Lancs Road in Wigan this morning due to a ongoing investigation by emergency services."
GMP Traffic said the closures affect East Lancs Road A580 westbound junction with Newton road, and Haydock island eastbound onto A580.
A spokesman said: "Due to a ongoing investigation into a road traffic collision, the following road closures are in place. East Lancs Road A580 westbound junction with Newton road.

"Haydock island eastbound onto A580 East Lancs road as you access from the M6 . Please plan your journey."
Drivers should check travel time and plan journeys ahead of time to avoid delays in this area.
No confirmation has yet been given on how many cars are involved or if there are any injuries being reported.
Inrix, the highways information site states: "A580 both ways closed due to accident from East Lancashire Road (Lowton) to Stone Cross Lane North (Golborne)."
