A member of the public paid for police officers' food in a random act of kindness this evening. 

The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) officers were at the McDonald's drive thru on Manchester Road earlier today, March 24, when they were surprised by the gesture. 

The member of public, who remained anonymous, left the officers feeling "very happy and appreciated on a busy shift".

A spokesperson from GMP's Bolton North Neighbourhood Team said: "#RandomActsOfKindness. Officers from C Relief Response would like to thank the anonymous member of the public who paid for their order at the McDonald's drive thru on Manchester Road this evening. 

"You have left two of our officers feeling very happy and appreciated on a busy shift!"
