An elderly couple visiting from Wales needed to be guided to safety after "getting lost" on the motorway for 10 hours.
Greater Manchester Police reported in the early hours of the morning of Friday, March 22, that the couple had been reported lost in Manchester.
Officers eventually found the elderly couple’s car on the M60 and, finding the driver to be “confused”, guided them to a safe stop on the M62.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “An elderly couple visiting from Wales, reported lost in Manchester.
“XT searched for their car, locating it on the M60.
“Best efforts to guide them off safely were difficult as the driver was confused.
“It was brought to a full stop on the M62 after driving for 10 hours!
“Blue light first class taxi back to safety.”

An image supplied by police at the scene shows the car having been brought to a stop on the hard shoulder in what are clearly still dark conditions.
Police officers can be seen talking to people inside the car with police cars parked both in front and behind them.
Anyone with any concerns about safety on the motorway can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
