A new Turkish takeaway is delighting visitors to Bolton town centre.

Favourites on the menu fresh shawarma and fatayer being served everyday.

Antalya Turkish is run by co-owner Ibrahim Abdullahi who makes fresh fatayer and shawarma wraps, every single day.

Originally from Iraq, Ibrahim learnt how to cook after travelling to Iran with a friend and developing a taste for fatayer, a Lebanese pastry with chicken and cheese filling.

Ibrahim now serves this on his menu alongside shawarma dishes with lamb or chicken as well as Falafel dishes, and Turkish pizza.

He said: “The first month was amazing but right now since it is Ramadan, all of our Asian customers cannot come here, and we do not yet deliver.

“The location is good and anytime people order we make it at the same time and even the dough for breads and pizza bases is made on the day, and if it finishes, thank God, but if not, we will not use it the next day.

“This place is me, and I never want to leave it.”

Ibrahim has worked in kitchens for over 12 years in Manchester, with the last place being a Palestinian kitchen in Didsbury.

He said: “It feels different when you work for yourself as now when I go home, the business is always on my mind.

“It makes me happy when people say they love the food and say they will come back and bring their friends.”

Antalya Turkish currently cannot deliver their food as they need a food hygiene rating to join the likes of Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

Ibrahim is expecting an inspector soon.

He said: “I know what I need to do and cannot wait to get started so we can deliver our food to people.

“Many customers say they are far from here and they want to order when they are home, so we will do this very soon.”

Ibrahim learnt to cook when travelling in Iran and Greece and said it helped him learn how to cook food of different cultures.

He said: “I found out it was the thing I can do.

“You learn a lot by cooking yourself, at least how not to burn yourself.”
