A spokesperson for Bolton MRT said: “On Tuesday evening, Bolton MRT was called to the aid of Buzz the chocolate Labrador who had taken a trip to infinity and beyond, finding himself stuck at the bottom of a very steep, slippery, densely wooded slope above a river.

The Bolton News: “With his good friend Woody (and his inbuilt rope rescue system) otherwise engaged, it was our pleasure to step in and rescue Buzz.

“Given the aforementioned steepness, and the fact that it was very ‘woof’ underfoot, the team employed a twin-line rope rescue system and lowered a team member down to Buzz.

“Then, with Buzz secure, we hauled both the rescuer and our new puppy pal back to safety (and lots of treats and attention).

“The team was called at 21:26, with 13 members involved who departed scene at around 00:45.

“Hopefully, Buzz and his anxious owners were able to get over the ordeal quickly and able to get a good night’s sleep.”
