A Bolton woman was found dead at hospital a day after she was admitted following an overdose.

Fatimah Adda, aged 34, died at the Royal Bolton Hospital earlier this month.

An inquest into her death opened at Bolton Coroners Court.

Neil McCaffery, a police coroner's officer, told coroner Simon Nelson what was known about what had taken place.

He said: “On March 4 Fatimah attended at the Royal Bolton Hospital accident and emergency after calling 111 stating she had taken an overdose of paracetamol and was hearing voices.

“An ambulance arrived and she was treated through the day.

“She was given an intravenous drip.

“She was assessed by the mental health team. At 12.30am they noticed was not in her room.

“Shortly after she was located by staff. She was found hanging in the toilet.

“At 1.30am she was declared life extinct."

He added: “Doctor Waugh from the Royal Bolton Hospital carried out a post-mortem examination.

“He gave the cause of death as hanging. There has been a police investigation.

“There does not appear to be any suspicious circumstance.

“Her body has been released to the family.”

Coroner Simon Nelson said: “It is not a natural cause of death.

“I formally open the inquest.

“I will adjourn it to a pre inquest review.”

The inquest into the death of the woman from Brooklyn Street, Astley Bridge, will resume in July.
