A popular family run pub and restaurant is back open with a fresh new look and a special new beer named after the venue.
The Victoria Inn, known to locals as ‘Fanny’s’, temporarily closed its doors on March 4 for a few days to allow the works to be completed.
The Markland Hill venue has been repainted, had new flooring and carpet fitted, and new decorations on the walls.
Manager Emily Pilkington said: “We closed so that we could do the big jobs that couldn’t be done whilst we were open.

“We like to keep up to date and we don’t it to look tired and run down.
“It just needed a fresh lick of paint.”
Visitors can enjoy three new beers – Angelo Poretti, Estrella Damm, and Fanny’s new four per cent lager, which is produced by Marston’s Brewery.
There is a wide selection of beers to choose from and there is also a guest ale, which will change every week.
In the next couple weeks, a new menu will also be launched, which will include new burgers and the return of their popular salt and pepper chicken.
Emily added: “It’s getting into spring time, so we wanted to change some options on the menu.
“We will also be going back to our themed special week, where one week we will have Indian food, Italian, or Chinese, once the new menu is in.
“It goes down a treat.”
After working at the restaurant for over 10 years, Emily says she loves the people she gets to work with – some of whom she has worked with for many years - and the customers.
She says that one of the things that keeps the place so busy are the high standards they offer.
Emily said: “We always have good customer service and a lot of repeat customers.
“We provide high quality homemade, fresh food, fresh beer, and wine.
“You get to know people and you know what they want.
“We have a lot of staff that have been here for a long time, and it shows that it is a good business to work for.”
The restaurant and lounge also take bookings for functions.
