Bolton’s hometown university has officially opened two new buildings for partnership courses in Manchester.
They are a new performing arts and dance studio at Shockout Arts, in the Valo Building, Old Trafford and the UoB Manchester building based in Manchester Science Park, Greenheys Lane.
Both were opened by University of Bolton Chancellor, the Earl of St Andrews George Windsor.
He said: “In the heart of a vibrant city like Manchester, I can think of no better environment for students to showcase their talents and work towards their dream.
“In this exciting new dance and performing arts school, so many creative careers can get the best possible start.
“The University of Bolton has always been an institution that embraces change, and these courses are a truly unique offering.
“From musical theatre to street dance, we are delivering a one-of-a-kind student experience.”
The UoB Manchester building, based in the city centre, will offer courses ranging from finance and accounting to health and social care.
The Earl said: “UoB Manchester has a unique focus on employability and professional development.
“This facility is a testament to the bold, forward-thinking vision this partnership represents.”
He added: “We are thrilled that the students are already creating their own campus community in this wonderful setting and are part of something truly special.”
Opening ceremonies for the two new buildings featured the chair and members of the university’s board of governors with vice chancellor Professor George E Holmes.

The Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester, Dr Diane Hawkins LL was also on hand and the ceremonies included the presentation of an honorary doctorate to Dr Ravi Gill OBE.
He was awarded the degree of honorary Doctor of Education thanks to his work educating tens of thousands of students and working institutions including University of Bolton.
Professor Holmes said: “The University is proud and delighted to have partnerships with such forward-thinking organisations in the heart of Manchester which offer such wonderful opportunities for our students, in terms of education, training and career prospects.
“I am also delighted to be able to confer an honorary doctorate on Dr Ravi Gill, whose dedication to education and commitment to those less fortunate has been inspiring over a number of decades.”
