Five people were injured, some seriously, in a crash after police pursued a 'suspicious' vehicle last night.
Officers say they spotted the vehicle in the Bury Road area of town and gave chase at 8.30pm.
They pursued it when the vehicle, a Skoda, drove on to the wrong side of St Peter's Way from the A666 slip road, before colliding with another vehicle, a BMW.

Five people were treated at the scene and a number were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Three of those injured are from the Skoda, with two from the BMW.
The St Peter's Way, A666, entrance between Turton Street and Folds Road was partially shut from when the incident happened at around until just before 9am this morning (Monday March 11).
One driver told The Bolton News last night: "I heard two loud smashes and as I went past I saw two cars totally wrecked, one with smoke billowing out of it.
"Police were there within seconds, then a helicopter, and a few moments later fire engines."

Three fire engines from Bolton North, Farnworth, and Bolton Central also responded to the incident, alongside the North West Ambulance Services.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At just before 8.40pm on Sunday March 10 three fire engines from Bolton North, Farnworth, and Bolton Central fire stations were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on St Peter’s Way, Bolton."

As the investigation progresses, detectives from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information.
