A 36-year-old man has been charged after police said they found an number of weapons in Bolton town centre.
John Webster, of Jeffrey Street, Wigan, was charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, possession a knife blade and/or sharp pointed article in a public place, possession of a controlled drug namely Cannabis (Class B), and obstruction and/or resist of an officer.
He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court today.
These charges relate to an arrest of a man in possession of an offensive weapon and bladed article in Bolton town Centre on Friday evening, March 8.

Inspector Jon Ezard of GMP’s Operation Venture said, “Our deployments in key hotspot areas means we were able to continue to support the Bolton district and its officers during their night-time economy patrols.
“I would like to remind the public they can continue to report any incidents to GMP by calling 101 or dialling 999 in an emergency.”
