Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious two vehicle crash on St Peter's Way.
Heavy traffic is building in the area, and pictures from the scene show the vehicles badly damaged.
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At just before 8.40pm today (Sunday March 10) three fire engines from Bolton North, Farnworth, and Bolton Central fire stations were called to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on St Peter’s Way, Bolton.
“Crews remain in attendance alongside colleagues from North West Ambulance Service and Greater Manchester Police.”

Police and ambulance remain on the scene opposite Bristol Street Ford garage.
One eye-witness, said he heard two ‘loud smashes’ when the crash happened.
He said: “I was driving to Folds Road, when I heard two loud smashes and as I went past, I saw two cars totally wrecked, one with smoke billowing out of it.
“Police were there within seconds, then a helicopter, and a few moments later fire engines.”
St Peters Way is closed this evening from this entrance following the accident, but motorists can still take left turns and go straight ahead.
Another eye-witness said he could see at least three ambulances.

Kevin Traynor said: “I don't really know what's going down for such a large police presence prior to ambulance and fire brigade turning up.
“At least three ambulances.”
Greater Manchester Police have been approached for comment.
The A666 St Peters Way Southbound remains closed due to the accident between A676 Folds Road (Bolton Gate traffic lights) and A579 Bradford Street.
