An investigation is underway after a Mercedes driver left his phone behind following a police pursuit through Bolton backstreets.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police’s traffic division chased the car through the Deane area over the course of Thursday March 7.
The car was eventually abandoned, and a group of people ran off towards the town centre.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “This Mercedes EQA250 was pursued by an Operation Classify patrol around the back streets of Deane.
“It was abandoned, and the occupants made off towards the town centre.
“Enquiries are ongoing, made a little easier saying the driver left me his phone.”
Operation Classified was launched recently in Bolton with the aim of reducing deaths and serious injuries all across the roads around the borough.

Greater Manchester Police says excessive speeding, as well as drink and drug driving, and poor driver standards have been the main key causes of road traffic collisions in the area.
Anyone with any further information or concerns about dangerous driving or other crimes or kinds of anti-social behaviour can call police on 101 or 999 in the event of an emergency.
Alternatively, witnesses can call independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
